Storytellers

Bianca Marais

Tri-Cities Electric, Owner

Bianca Marais is the co-founder and owner ofTriCities Electric, a company she and her husband built to bring safer, smarter electrical solutions to the Tri-Cities region. Her path to entrepreneurship began in the newsroom, where she spent seven years as a reporter. Again and again, she was called to cover stories of electrical fires—stories that ended in tragedy and left a lasting impression. Those experiences lit a spark in Bianca: a determination to help prevent those very incidents rather than simply report on them.

From the start, Bianca has been integral to the daily operations and long-term vision of TriCities Electric. The company does not simply bear her name as an owner—its success depends on her active leadership. From overseeing projects to managing client relationships, to shaping strategy and guiding her team, she plays a vital role in every facet of the business.

As a woman in the trades, Bianca has faced challenges of skepticism and doubt. Too often, she has been underestimated or mistaken for “just the secretary.” Yet instead of being discouraged, she has turned those experiences into fuel. Each obstacle has strengthened her resolve to prove that women not only belong in the trades but can thrive as leaders and decision-makers in them.

Bianca’s leadership is defined by resilience, service, and vision. She is passionate about empowering others—her team, her peers, and especially women working to carve out their place in traditionally male-dominated industries.

At the2025 She Doesevent, Bianca will share her journey from journalist to entrepreneur, offering lessons on perseverance, purpose, and the power of transforming setbacks into momentum. Her story is proof that determination and action can change both a career and a community.

Amanda Powers

The Lost & Found Podcast, Founder

Amanda Powers is the host of The Lost & Found Podcast, a fast-growing storytelling platform dedicated to helping people navigate self-loss, identity shifts, and the pursuit of authentic purpose. Her show amplifies the voices of athletes, entrepreneurs, creatives, and everyday people who have turned setbacks into opportunities for transformation. With over 100 episodes to date, Amanda has built a community where vulnerability, resilience, and reinvention take center stage.

Before becoming a podcaster and speaker, Amanda spent more than a decade working as an intelligence analyst for various national security agencies. She specialized in counterterrorism and crisis response, gaining a front-row seat to the complexities of human behavior, resilience, and decision-making under pressure. But her own turning point came when she realized the life and career she had built no longer aligned with who she was becoming. Choosing to walk away, Amanda began documenting her reinvention journey through her podcast.

Her show has since grown into a global space where listeners connect not only to inspiring guests, but also to Amanda’s own personal reflections on self-discovery, setbacks, and growth. She has a gift for asking deep, human-centered questions that reveal not just what her guests have accomplished, but who they’ve become in the process.

As a speaker and MC, Amanda is known for her authenticity, humor, and ability to make any room feel connected. She is especially passionate about supporting women entrepreneurs and encouraging others to challenge societal “shoulds” and redefine success on their own terms.
