KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The Kingsport Office of Small Business Development & Entrepreneurship (KOSBE) is hosting a Double Feature event on Thursday, July 11, 2013, at the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce featuring export trade. The morning session is from 9 a.m.- 11:30 a.m. and is for lenders only, while the afternoon session, Exporting University 101, takes place from 1 p.m.- 5 p.m. and is for new and experienced international trade professionals alike.
“With more than 268,000 small businesses currently exporting and record U.S. export volume, now is a great time for bankers to use the U.S. Small Business Administration’s export loan programs to expand their portfolio of high growth, competitive customers and increase their market share in providing export financing,” said Aundrea Wilcox, Executive Director of KOSBE.
The morning event is for community banks who wish to learn if guaranteed trade finance is right for their bank. Speakers will include Dan Holt, SBA Regional Export Solutions Manager; Maria Lloyd, SBA Tennessee District Lender Relations Specialist; Karol Klim, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. This session is free and includes a continental breakfast, but registration is required. Please register at www.kosbe.org or 423.392.8811.
The afternoon event, Exporting University 101, is beneficial for both seasoned exporters and companies interested in exporting. Companies are encouraged to send employees responsible for letters of credit, international documentation, international sales and/or international marketing.
Topics covered will include international shipping, incoterms, getting paid by foreign buyers, insuring foreign receivables, working capital, business roundtable with current exporters, technical, financial and management information assistance and how to find export sales in new markets and increase sales in existing markets. The cost to attend this session is $25. To register, visit www.kosbe.org or contact Robert Leach, Director U.S. Department of Commerce, Knoxville, at Robert.Leach@trade.gov or 865.545.4637.
